FDR = "Fealty Due Republicans"?

A lot of people on the left want to hope that Barack Obama will follow the path of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, not elected on a particularly radical platform but pushed to enact more and more progressive measures. And for a while now, we've been hearing about "WPA-type" expenditures that Obama would be proposing, investing heavily in building infrastructure and such in order to revive the economy.

But today, the word is that, in an effort to gain more Republican support for his measures, Obama is shifting his focus to a large tax cut for individuals and businesses. And that's with huge Democratic majorities in both House and Senate.

Funny thing about Obama. No matter which way he turns, he always ends up facing right.
