U.S. President George W. Bush sought to salvage his legacy on the world stage on Wednesday by defending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and appealing to Russia to drop opposition to a missile defense shield.Doesn't something have to actually exist before it can be "salvaged"?
Actually, there's little doubt that Bush will leave a legacy, starting with a million bodies in the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan (and a few thousand back in the States), not to mention one thoroughly destroyed and still neglected American city. Then there's the little matter of three trillion dollars of current and future debt to be repaid...
