Getting ready to scream

If (and, sadly, there's no "if" about it) I hear the word "change" or "change election" or "change candidate" one more time in this election, either from a candidate, a newscaster, or a pundit, I am going to scream. OK, I warned you: argggggggggggghhhhhh!

How meaningful is that "slogan"? At the 1988 Republican convention, after eight years of "leadership" from Ronald Reagan, here's what Reagan himself had to say:

"And now, now we hear talk that it's time for a change. Well, ladies and gentlemen, another friendly reminder: We are the change."
Had enough "change" yet?

Personally, my expectations for "change" as a result of this election are quite low. I'll be satisfied with the election of a President who can speak English (or Spanish...or French...in fact, any known language will do!). Any more change than that will vastly exceed my expectations.
