The terrorism double standard
I write regularly about the U.S. double standard on terrorism when it comes to anti-Cuban terrorism - freeing Luis Posada Carriles and imprisoning the Cuban Five counter-terrorists. But there's another double standard too - anti-abortion terrorism. And, with TV running round-the-clock coverage of botched fire-bombings in London and Glasgow, how interesting that I had to learn about another car fire-bombing by reading a diary at Daily Kos. This is the tale of David McMenemy, who drove his car into a women's health clinic (which he erroneously thought performed abortions) last year, set it on fire, and who just was sentenced to five years in prison...for arson. I hadn't heard about this case at all, and no wonder - a search shows zero national coverage of this event.
