Quote of the Day
"We were ill-prepared for the eventuality of continuity rather than change. All our policies have been built on a foundation of wishful thinking. Now we are confronted with reality, and it’s not what we had hoped it would be."Having just watched a 60 Minutes interview with Stephen Colbert tonight, the word "truthiness" comes to mind. Believing the truth is what you "feel" in your gut (or hope for), rather than what the facts tell you it is. The U.S. media has been describing Cuba as "Castro" for so long, people come to believe it.
- Damian Fernandez, director of the Cuban Research Institute at Florida International University, referring to policy makers in Washington and Miami
As far as Mike Wallace's ridiculous interview with Iranian President Ahmadinejad on the same show, the less said the better. What an asshole. Mike Wallace, that is.
