No child left behind

In other countries where they prioritize children, perhaps. Certainly not in the United States, where the largest investment in education is in rhetoric:
According to a new study from the National Education Association, a teachers union, half of new U.S. teachers are likely to quit within the first five years because of poor working conditions and low salaries.
For those inclined to blame every ill of the country on George Bush and the Republicans, let's be clear that this situation results from decades of prioritization by Republicans and Democrats alike. Capitalism, where only things which are profit sources are valued, is at the root of it. And that's something I'd like us to "leave behind."
